(1) Bodo 

 

Boro, also called Bodo, is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken primarily by the Boro people of India, Nepal and Bangladesh. It is an official language of the Indian state of Assam, predominantly spoken in the Bodoland Territorial Region.

It is spoken in the Terai region of Nepal. Vidyapati was a famous Maithili poet. Maithili is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India.

Native speakers: 6.3 million
